The fans love him and the players do too.

I was not in the area for the announcements, but what does everybody think about Kash taking over this team a second time? He seemed really solid his first time through, taking over for Brian Nelson, so I am pretty excited about the new manager.

That is pretty awesome that they get to open up two stadiums in two years. Perhaps they will get three in three next year?

 6   Frontier League Chit-Chat / Re: 2010 Division Shakeup  on: Oct 25th, 2009, 10:27pm

Well for starters, it will mean 2 trips to Washington, Lake Erie, and Traverse City this year vs 1 in previous seasons. It also means the intrastate rivals of the TBolts (Gateway, Southern IL, and Normal) will only play a grand total of 9 games at the Vault in 2010 (1 series each).

As for the new manager, I don't think it will matter one way or another which division the team is in. Da Bolts were in two different divisions in 07 and 08 when they won back-to-back titles.

I'll be glad when the league posts the complete 2010 schedule. I just hate the idea of the Windy City making only 1 trip down here to Gateway in 96 games.

 9   Frontier League Chit-Chat / 2010 Division Shakeup  on: Oct 17th, 2009, 2:21pm

According to the 2010 Schedule Page on the Southern Illinois Miners website, the Frontier League divisions will be shaken up some next season. Normal comes into the league in the South Division basically replacing Rockford in the old West Division. Florence and Windy City swap places with the Freedom moving to the South and the Bolts switching to the North.

Here is the proposed FL lineup for 2010:

North Division
Kalamazoo Kings
Lake Erie Crushers
Oakland County Cruisers
Traverse City Beach Bums
Washington WildThings
Windy City ThunderBolts

South Division
Evansville Otters
Florence Freedom
Gateway Grizzlies
Normal CornBelters
River City Rascals
Southern Illinois Miners

I was initially wondering why Windy City and Normal only play each other six times, then I saw the Divisional teams listed and noticed the shakeup.

Well, it's good to see there will be 12 teams again.

 10   General Chit-Chat / ThunderBolts - 1st Visitor to Normal in 2010  on: Oct 17th, 2009, 1:56pm

For the second year in a row Windy City will be the first visiting team to play in a new Frontier League stadium. Last season, the Bolts were the first team to play at Lake Erie's All Pro Freight Stadium. Now, the Normal CornBelters have posted their 2010 schedule on their website and it shows the ThunderBolts as the first visitor on June 1-3 (Tues-Thurs). Normal will travel to Crestwood the following week on June 8-10 (also Tues-Thurs).

Hopefully the other teams will have their schedules out soon.
